The March 4 Mia Foundation was started as a walk in the park for family and friends to get together and remember Mia. It was initiated by the foundation’s director (Christina Chinn) and Secretary (Nevaeh Chinn).
While organizing the first two walks for family and friends, we discovered there was no city-wide breast cancer awareness walk in Kansas City, Kansas, specifically in Wyandotte County. So, we decided to honor Mia’s memory and simultaneously organize a city-wide walk to raise funds for breast cancer research, specifically for the KU Medical Center Cancer Research Department.
We began our journey in December of 2022, and in just over a year and a half, we have been able to organize our first official Mia D Williams 5k Cancer Walk and Run. We received a Mayoral Proclamation naming August 14th “March 4 Mia Day” in Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kansas. Thanks to the generosity of Bunzl Processor Division, Fast Fred’s Neighborhood Market, The Kansas Speedway, and countless individual donors, we successfully launched the March 4 Mia Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
THANK YOU to everyone who helped in this process! WE WON’T LET YOU DOWN!
